Avonturia de Vogelkelder has marked its 50th anniversary with an official award from The Hague municipality.
Alderman for Economic Affairs Richard de Mos presented the honour to Emely Huybers, wife of the late founder Jan Huybers, along with the wider Huybers family.
From basement to experience centre
The business started in 1976 in the basement beneath the home of Jan and Emely Huybers. Over half a century, it expanded into a large family company located on Kerketuinenweg.
Today, the site operates beyond a traditional pet shop, offering nature, education, and animal experiences alongside international sales of its own brands.
The company previously received the Haagse Parel award in the family business category in 2022.
