Daan den Heijer is 12 and knows the trams of The Hague in detail: the models, the departure times and the routes.
He recognises the GTL, Avenio and TINA at a glance, and he has a soft spot for the old PCC trams, one of which he dates to around 1950.
Rail and timetables
His interest in the rails began with trains, and the trams came later.
Daan says he has autism and that it plays a part in his interest, describing a feeling for the rails and for times.
He follows the tram timetable closely, and when he spots something that does not add up he messages HTM, because he has their number.
He films the trams for TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, and has built up more than two thousand followers on Instagram.
Taffes uniek
He coined the phrase taffes uniek himself and it runs through his videos, used for an especially unusual tram or for one taking an unfamiliar route because of a diversion.
Tram drivers now wave to him along the tracks, and he says he will certainly drive a tram himself one day, ideally a TINA or a GTL.
