Sportcomplex Lindoduin in Scheveningen will undergo a large-scale renovation after The Hague city council unanimously approved a 3.8 million euro investment.
Built in 1967, the complex features a beach sports hall and a gymnasium used by hundreds of local athletes, schools, and clubs.
Indoor Beach Centrum Lindobeach leases the site, where its operating foundation counts around 700 members alongside recreational teams, fire brigade staff, and children’s programmes.
Hygiene and aging facilities
Local schools rely on the gym during school hours, while Neptunus Scheveningen gymnastics club and KVS korfball club train there in evenings and weekends with about 350 youth members.
The municipality determined that an overhaul was urgent because changing rooms are no longer hygienically viable to use and the technical installations fall short of modern standards.
The beach hall, exterior walls, and attached gym storage space also require extensive repairs after decades of heavy use.
Phased construction schedule
Contractor Bouwmeester BV will insulate the roofs and exterior facades, install insulated glass and new window frames, and replace the gymnasium sports floor.
The project will modernise heating systems and ventilation with heat recovery to meet nearly zero-energy building standards.
Work begins this calendar year and will proceed in phases so the facility can stay open as much as possible, with final delivery planned for mid-2027.
