Rogier Dop has been baking his Haagse Hofjes cookies at The Hague Tech on Waldorpstraat since December 2025.

Until 2019 he led food innovation projects at The Hague University of Applied Sciences.

On 23 June 2019 a new footbridge hit him as he sailed with his youngest son and his parents.

He was knocked unconscious but fell into the boat, not into the water, and was diagnosed with concussion.

He went back to work after the summer but dropped out in October with exhaustion and sensory overload, and was eventually declared unfit for work.

He had started Glorious Bastards three years before the accident to get people with brain injuries into work, but high costs stalled it.

He and his wife Marjolein perfected the recipe during the pandemic: shortcrust pastry, sea salt and homemade Haagse Hopjes.

He still bakes everything himself, for the coffee bar next door and a company with a monthly order.

He eventually wants employees alternating practical tasks with mental ones in a bakery of his own in the city centre.

He was recently nominated for the Ignite Awards, a startup prize for social entrepreneurs, and the cash award would help publicise the cookies and their purpose.
