Regional bus drivers to strike again on Thursday 22 October

The walkout is part of a dispute over a new collective labour agreement that has stalled since July. Unions say they will stage weekly strikes through Christmas, announcing each action at least 48 hours ahead.

Bus drivers and regional train staff will stop work again on Thursday 22 October, the second nationwide strike since talks on a new collective labour agreement broke down.

Unions FNV and CNV say they will strike one day a week until Christmas and will announce each action at least 48 hours in advance.

What will not run

In this region, staff at EBS, Qbuzz and RET may join in.

EBS runs the buses in the Haaglanden municipalities around The Hague, while Qbuzz covers Leiden, the Bollenstreek, Alphen aan den Rijn and Gouda.

RET buses in the Delft area will not run, although trams and metros probably will.

HTM city transport in The Hague falls outside the dispute.

Passengers should check on 9292.nl shortly before they travel, because a service can still be cancelled after it has appeared in the planner.

Why they are striking

Negotiations stalled in July and the unions say employers ignored their ultimatum and are offering a package that would worsen working conditions.

The unions also want a better work-life balance, while employers say they regret the strikes but have too little financial room to meet the demands.
