Museumnacht Den Haag takes place on Saturday 10 October, when more than forty cultural locations in The Hague and Voorburg open their doors after normal closing time.
The Huygens Museum is joining in with both of its sites, Hofwijck and the Notarishuis, each with a different programme running from 19.00 to 00.00.
Pop music at the Notarishuis
The Notarishuis focuses on pop music from the 1960s and 1970s.
Voorburg had a lively pop scene in those years, with dozens of young people forming bands and taking their cue from the newest pop and rock music coming out of England.
The quiz ‘Allemaal Muzikanten’ tests visitors on their music knowledge and teaches them something about Voorburg’s pop history along the way, with a new round starting every hour.
There is also live music, and a mocktail master serving drinks inspired by the two decades.
Perfume and photography at Hofwijck
Hofwijck centres on the fragrant world of Constantijn Huygens, who was a perfumer and experimented with different scents and techniques.
Visitors can mix their own perfume at a perfume bar.
A photobooth will be set up in the library, among centuries-old books from Huygens’ collection, and there is a coffee bar for anyone who wants a break.
Travel between the venues
A shuttle service runs between the venues in The Hague and Voorburg, using a historic bus, and alongside the Huygens Museum the Voorburg line-up includes Kunstuitleen Voorburg and Artibrak.
The pick-up point for wristbands this year is the Notarishuis at Herenstraat 101.
Tickets have to be bought in advance through museumnachtdenhaag.nl, and none are sold at the door on the night.
