A new stairlift was installed on Wednesday at the ADO Den Haag stadium to help older supporters reach their seats. It was introduced for De Grijze Reigâhs, a foundation set up for fans aged 65 and older.
Mounted against a wall near the entrance, the lift brings supporters directly up to their section of the stands. The regular stairs remain in place for other spectators.
Crowdfunding closed the final budget gap
The project required approximately €40,000 to complete. De Grijze Reigâhs secured most of the funds from various partners, collecting around €35,000 by November.
The foundation then launched a public crowdfunding campaign to raise the remaining €5,000. Contributions from supporters and other donors allowed the order to go ahead in December 2025.
Safer access in wet weather
Foundation chairman Cor van Welbergen noted that reaching the stands had become difficult for members with mobility challenges, walker users, or those living with COPD. Supporters previously had to climb steel stairs with someone holding their arm.
The board viewed that climb as a serious safety hazard, particularly in the rain and bad weather. The new equipment ensures fans with limited mobility can continue attending matches safely.
