Ristorante Baronetto, a new Italian restaurant from chef Francesco Frasca, has opened on Mallemolen in the centre of The Hague.
Frasca is a familiar name in the city’s kitchens, having spent years as executive chef at Impero Romano before setting up on his own.
His menu leans on the food of Piedmont and the Langhe, where he comes from, with truffles, traditional dishes and regional wines such as Barolo and Barbaresco.
Italian community turns out
Friends, guests and members of the Italian community in The Hague came to the opening, and the Italian Embassy sent representatives.
Among those there were Pasquale Ronza and his wife Maria, and Elly Ciampichetti, who was accompanied by her son Stefano Ciampichetti, director of Winford The Hague.
Political and diplomatic guests
The restaurant has also begun drawing diners from the city’s political, diplomatic and international circles.
Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten ate there on a recent private visit and was welcomed by Frasca and co-owner Vijay Jitan.
Baronetto now gives Frasca his own stage for Piedmontese cooking in the city where he built his career.
