Winkelcentrum Leyweg in Escamp will transform into a free arts and culture festival on 26 September between 12:00 and 17:30. The event features more than 40 concerts, workshops, and street theatre acts across stages, squares, and the Kerktuin.
Admission and all activities are free. The festival encourages visitors to join in directly, offering workshops in drumming, woodworking, clay work, calligraphy, paper marbling, mandala making, drawing, hula hooping, and building musical instruments.
Performances across multiple stages
In the Kerktuin, Rockodonts presents live sets from BIS, The Convention, and Move & Slide.
Programming on the main stage begins at 12:30 with comedian and magician Steven Kazán, followed by brass bands The Legendairs & Rhythm Allstars, De Wijkmuzikanten, The Hague folk singer Chicco, and YourStage Urban.
At 15:45, the square turns into a dance floor for an open 45-minute salsa workshop led by Latin Soul Dance. Participants can use the steps immediately afterward during a closing performance by Latin band Masalsa at 16:30.
Community dance and local partners
A dedicated dance stage will feature neighbourhood groups across various styles, including Bhangra Evolution, Latin Soul Dance, A.S. Dance Group, Grupo Ban Pé, and Abovian.
The event is built around the idea that arts and culture belong in everyday public spaces rather than only in theatres, museums, and concert halls.
Organisers include Theater & Filmhuis Dakota, Musicon, Zuiderparktheater, Bibliotheek Den Haag Escamp, CultuurSchakel, Wijkz, Museon-Omniversum, BIZ Leyweg, the municipality, neighbourhood organisations, and local businesses.
