On 16 October, 65 new affordable rental homes on Stuwstraat in The Hague were formally completed.
Housing associations Hof Wonen and Mooiland built the project with construction partner Van Wijnen Stolwijk, and the ceremony focused on the cooperation between the associations, the builder and the other parties involved.
The project replaces worn-out homes on the same site and brings back 23 more homes than before, at a much better quality, according to housing alderman Kavish Partiman.
Partiman also marked a personal milestone at the ceremony by driving the first ceremonial pile of his time as an alderman.
The homes have a nature-inclusive facade, a shared inner garden, smart technology and sustainable materials, with attention also paid to sustainability, living comfort and the long-term quality of the building.
A symbolic handover of the building marked the end of the work, with partners, directors and other guests present.
Partiman said the Molenweide city farm on the doorstep makes this a special place to live.
Hof Wonen, Mooiland and Van Wijnen Stolwijk see the delivery as a further step in their shared aim of providing good quality, affordable homes for people looking for housing in The Hague.
