Residents of The Coornhert, a senior housing complex in Moerwijk, say broken entrance doors and other problems are affecting safety and quality of life.
Resident John Fokke says the entrance doors, which should only open with an electronic tag, are standing open, and the intercom has not worked for ten days.
He says parcels have gone missing, a resident’s mobility scooter was stolen, and people who do not live in the building regularly sleep in it.
Fokke also reports bedbugs going back about ten years, heating that often fails, and theft and vandalism in the shared rooms.
A lift on the twelfth floor has been out of use for about six months, which worries him because most residents are over 55.
Housing association Woonzorg Nederland says it is looking at solutions with tenants, has replaced the forced locks on storage areas and has brought in a specialist firm to tackle the pests.
Fokke says he passes on residents’ complaints but little or nothing is done.
Councillor Abdoel Haryouli of Hart voor Den Haag says his party is putting written questions to the city executive and wants the municipality, landlord, police and residents to discuss concrete measures.
