Travel between The Hague, Wateringen, and the A4 faces major disruption over the coming weeks due to extensive roadworks. The Laan van Wateringse Veld will close between the N211 and Paul Steenbergenlaan from 20:00 on Sunday 20 September until 04:00 on Monday 5 October.
The N211 Wippolderlaan will also shut completely from 22:00 on Thursday 1 October until 04:00 on Monday 5 October. Drivers must follow detours and expect longer travel times throughout the works.
Highway access and detours
During the weekend closure in early October, exit 12 on the A4 from Amsterdam will be closed, alongside the on-ramp to the A4 toward Rotterdam. Traffic heading toward Rotterdam from the Harnaschpolder will be diverted via the A13, while the on-ramp to the A4 toward Amsterdam will stay open.
The closures will allow crews to carry out roadworks on the N211, including the installation of a new roundabout at Laan van Wateringse Veld and a connection to a split-level junction.
New traffic patterns from October
When the roads reopen at 04:00 on Monday 5 October, traffic moving to and from Wateringse Veld will use the new roundabout and viaduct. A temporary lane shift will be put in place on the N211 to separate through traffic from construction work on bridges over the Zweth and Molensloot.
Exit 12 from the A4 will also see permanent changes, with a traffic light installed for vehicles heading onto the N211, removing the current free-flowing right turn.
