Hart voor Den Haag bus labelled a wreck

The municipality plans to tow a parked double-decker bus belonging to the local political party if it is not moved. The vehicle has been stranded for months awaiting repairs.

A green and yellow double-decker bus belonging to the political party Hart voor Den Haag has been officially labelled a vehicle wreck by the municipality.

City authorities have warned that the vehicle will be towed away if it is not removed.

The bus has been parked on Bezuidenhoutseweg just past palace Huis ten Bosch for several months.

Stickers placed on the windscreen state that it is in an inadequate state of maintenance, apparently neglected, and that an administrative fine has been issued for nuisance.

Dispute over maintenance and towing

City council member Jelle Meinesz, who owns the bus, disputes that it has been neglected.

While he acknowledges the vehicle cannot currently be driven because it needs a replacement part, he says he was driving it before the summer.

Meinesz also noted that efforts were made to move the bus earlier, which included removing a wasp nest during the summer.

He criticised the municipality for not contacting him directly after placing warning notices on the vehicle on 2 September.

Hart voor Den Haag announced last month that it plans to sell its buses and signature limousine.

Meinesz plans to remove and sell this double-decker once the required mechanical part arrives and is installed.
